Helping Children and Young People Feel Heard, Understood, and More Confident in Themselves
Helping Children and Young People Feel Heard, Understood, and More Confident in Themselves

Growing up isn't always easy.
Children & young people can face challenges with friendships, school, confidence, anxiety, family changes, identity, and emotional wellbeing. Sometimes they struggle to find the words to explain what they're experiencing.
Counselling offers a space where young people can explore their thoughts and feelings with someone outside their everyday world.
My aim is to help young people better understand themselves, develop confidence, and feel less alone in what they are experiencing.

I work collaboratively with young people, helping them explore what is happening in their lives, understand themselves more fully, and develop confidence in their own voice.

Working with Parents and Caregivers

Working with Parents and Caregivers
Supporting a young person often means supporting the adults around them too.
Parents and caregivers are frequently carrying worries of their own and may benefit from space to explore those concerns.
You may be wondering how best to support your child, whether counselling will help, or what your role will be in the process.
While the counselling relationship belongs to the young person, I recognise the important role parents and caregivers play in supporting wellbeing and development.

I believe people are more than the difficulties that bring them to counselling.
Whether someone is struggling with anxiety, confidence, relationships, burnout, identity, or life changes, there is always a wider story that deserves understanding.
My role is not to tell people who they should become.
My role is to create a supportive space where they can explore who they are, make sense oftheir experiences, and discover what matters most to them.

You may notice changes in mood, confidence, behaviour, friendships, school attendance, emotional wellbeing, or how they cope with everyday challenges. Counselling can provide a supportive space to explore these experiences.
I support children and young people experiencing school anxiety, emotional wellbeing difficulties, friendship challenges, low confidence, family changes, autism, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and feelings of being overwhelmed.
Parents and caregivers play an important role in supporting a young person's wellbeing. The level of involvement will depend on the age and needs of the child or young person, while respecting appropriate confidentiality.
Counselling is confidential, with one important exception: if there is a risk of harm to you or someone else, I have a responsibility to act on that. What confidentiality means in practice, including this exception, is explained clearly and set out in the counselling agreement before we begin working together.
